EDMOND, Okla., Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Citizens Bank of Edmond is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Shane Goodwin as member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Goodwin brings a distinctive combination of corporate governance expertise, boardroom experience, and more than three decades of leadership at the highest levels of finance.

Goodwin serves as Executive Director of the SMU Corporate Governance Initiative and Professor of Practice in Finance at the SMU Cox School of Business. He also serves as Adjunct Professor of Law at SMU Dedman School of Law. His work focuses on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism, and the responsibilities of corporate boards.

Throughout his career, Goodwin has held senior academic appointments at Columbia University and Harvard University, contributing thought leadership in shareholder activism, corporate governance, and financial regulation. His expert testimony and academic research have shaped policy discussions, redefined community banking, and modernized business school education.

Prior to his academic career, Goodwin spent nearly 25 years in investment banking and corporate finance, including senior roles with Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Wells Fargo Securities. Over the course of his career, he has advised more than 250 mergers and acquisitions totaling more than $50 billion. He also brings extensive public and private company board experience and is a National Association of Corporate Directors Board Leadership Fellow and Certified Director.

Goodwin holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University and an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He is also a former NCAA Division I football player and was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League and later inducted into the University of Tulsa Athletic Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame.
